Giampaolo Addari

He was born on August 5th, 1975 in Pescina, a small and charming village in Abruzzo.

He live with a housewife mother, a father who works in the automotive world touring Italy, a grandmother who pampers him with her typical local cuisine and a grandfather with a passion for painting, which will gradually influence Giampaolo and who will end his days just when he had begun a portrait of his nephew, which will later remain unfinished.

This unfinished work will leave its mark on the young man, so much so that he will unknowingly refine an excellent technique to be able to complete 2x2 m canvases in a few hours.

His works, almost mainly in oil, have a sign of recognition or "unfamiliarity", in fact both human and animal faces are painted and then erased.

The why of this? Leave space for the imagination, let the viewer ask questions and come into contact with the painting and its secrets.

Another sign of distinction in the painter's works is in the evolution and revolution of some of his paintings.

In fact, some canvases from his private collection follow him like a secret diary and paintings on paintings overlap on the same canvas, allowing us to glimpse past emotions, making us immerse ourselves in those he is experiencing and then leaving room for further brushstrokes that will tell us other stories of the artist.

His curiosity for the different cultures and neighboring worlds push him to look for old maps that will be enriched by his drawings, which tell of real or simply fantastic journeys.

The superimposition on already existing paintings, as if to say that what we see is not enough and needs something more, we find them on old tapestries and family portraits.

The old tambourines with animal portraits are amusing and immediately captivated by his audience, which have sparked real collections.

Among his most important works by him, “animal kingdom” “return to my safety” “maternal bond” “skinned knees” “road to Italy”.
